AI technology has become hype recently since Open AI launched its new version of Chat GPT 4. Although it is very transformative, some people are concerned that AI will replace jobs in fields such as writing, software engineering, and creative work, as these technologies can now generate text, review code, and even produce images from written inputs. Regarding this issue Connectech, a tech community builder in Indonesia, collaborated with BenQ held a Developer Networking on Sunday, 9 April 2023 in Rumah Wijaya, South Jakarta.
The talk show moderated by Media Sari (founder of Connectech) discussed on "How to Boost Developer Productivity With AI" presenting three inspiring speakers from diverse backgrounds: Afif Akbar Iskandar (Data Scientist and Content Creator), Ahmad Rizqi Meydiarso (CEO of Feedloop), Andryanto C Wijaya (Managing Director of BenQ Indonesia).
During the talk show, the speakers shared their insights and experiences on how AI can be leveraged to enhance productivity and achieve success in the tech industry, not as a threat.
Afif explained the latest development in AI and how it can be used to enhance his work as Data Scientist, “I often use Chat GPT for debugging. Simply ask Chat GPT a specific question about error messages and you’ll get a reply with relevant information that can help you identify and fix the issue. Once you’ve identified and fixed the problem, you need to test the code to make sure the problem has been resolved”
In addition, Rizqi shared his personal journey as a startup CEO and how AI can open new opportunities for people who want to become entrepreneurs, “The presence of AI is like the old days when the internet was invented. Indeed, AI will be disrupted and become a game changer, but it can also open up many opportunities, especially for people who want to create their own businesses with a small team and fewer funds or capital”
Finally, as a person who worked as a programmer for 4 years before becoming the managing director of BenQ Indonesia, Mr. Andry advised that we should not focus on AI will replace humans, "We must have the enthusiasm to keep learning especially new technology. When I found out that I was good at marketing, I decided to switch my career. Then I got a scholarship to go to marketing school. Even though I have to learn everything from scratch but I enjoy it,”
From the insight above, instead of worrying about the presence of AI, we should take advantage of AI to increase our productivity as developers.
